I've been playing a lot of MH lately, especially the originals, like MH1, the game that started it all for me. I'll never forget going to a bunch of different forums begging for help and understanding, trying to find people to play online with back then. And people were MEAN.
But then I stumbled onto this forum. And Gog, am I glad I did. I came here a few years after the release of Monster Hunter Tri, for some reason or another. Then I decided, "Why not? Why not join and see if I can contribute, I've been playing MH since 2004." Best choice I've ever made.

Brief nostalgia trip and an invite to a modern platformEvery once in awhile I come to this site to see if it still exists. I have a lot of nostalgia for this forum. I remember being active when I was like 13-14 years old, and I learned a lot about the internet from my interactions with some of you old members. Returning to the site makes it pretty clear that the forum is mostly dead (aside from that guy updating his fanfic thread. Go you) but I’ve seen one or two threads from the past year or two about the old days. I’m kind of curious what everyone has been up to and if any of the old familiar names check the site ever. My... |
Was listening to some music I haven't listened to in some years and got hit with big nostalgia waves for the forums I used to frequent back in the day. I have no idea how the hell I still remembered the password for this one but there you go.
11 years since I joined these forums and holy shit how much has changed. Personally and, well, in general. Got through some tough times, got my Architecture diploma and now I'm going through my year-long mandatory army service.
And I'm still in love with Monster Hunter. It certainly has had it's ups and downs but Rise has been a great... |
Old Member from the Monster Hunter Tri days looking to see if anyone is still here. It's been a very very long time since I frequented this message board. Yes, I am still playing Monster Hunter. I think the last time I was here we were talking about the upcoming 3DS and the possibility of Monster Hunter Games on the console. Well...I am currently playing Monster Hunter Rise on the Switch and I was wondering if there was anyone in here that would like to become consistent Hunting partners with me. I am HR 101 and I have my Valstrax Urgent. I am looking to grind for the armor of course. By all means reply to this thread if you're interested. |
Grumbling about people playing mhI dont know why but I get really frustrated with people claiming that they have been huge monhun fans now that World has been a success. I try to disassociate with gamer and fandom identities but damn does this annoy me. Suddenly everyone is a MH veteran and people I've known for years and have never mentioned playing mh before are now long-time fans. I don't get it. I dont really care to claim to be a "veteran", I've been playing on and off for some some years now but I fuck up my hunts from time to time. Even in 4U people were more respectful towards other players, I dont remember... |
I find it strange that there isn't a subheading for MH World. It would be under Playstation right? The game comes out.....25 minutes ago...hmm guess Im a bit late on this. Either way its out; [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
From KotakuWhile I expect to see more MH spin offs on Nintendo consoles it's very like that another main series game won't be making a showing any time soon. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |
Hunting the large monsters (Great Jaggi for example) tends to be about tells - you see the monster do something (back up, for example), and you know what he is going to do next.
Poker is also about tells - what your opponents do might give you a hint about the strength of their hands.
Saying that, could playing Monster Hunter and reading monster tells help you figure out a poker opponent's tells? |
Basically you can add topics and information you want to talk about related to Monster Hunter but not necessarily game specific. |
See topic.
I was thinking of large monsters like:
Medusa - capable of Stone Gaze (instant death) - weapons crafted from her would have the tiny possibility of an instant kill.
Kraken - extremely powerful leviathan-type dragon. Not as impervious as from Greek myth (Perseus killed it with Medusa's head.)
Scylla - from Homer's Odyssey - a six-headed sea monster.
The Nemean Lion - Heracles' first labor. His hide is impervious to all blade attacks (fight him with a blunt weapon like a hammer or switch ax.)
Trolls or Giants - from Norse... |
There has been no confirmation as of yet on the system that Monster Hunter 5 will be coming to but many in the gaming business, working around Capcom and Sony have said that Sony is in talks with Capcom to try and make it happen. Monster Hunter 5 would be a huge boost for Sony in Japan and in the west as well.
Sony would also highly benefit having MH5 exclusivity over Nintendo's Switch console which has seen an increase in market shares and sales since the announcement of MHxx for the Switch.
A Monster Hunter game for the PS4 would have the benefits of graphics and power... |
