Probably back on the original MH, being made Rathian's b***h over and over again! Back when I was a HUGE GS noob..

| I can say proudly I never touched Rathian armour OR Guan Dao, together or separately. I thought Ian gear was ugly and I was never too big a fan of Long Swords. Also, I had watched that one awesome solo run of Jhen so as a HR 10~ in maxed offline Lagi gear with my Ancient Hammer, so I was more experienced with it than some High-Rankers on my first try xD
Anyway, I bought a mix of leather and chain-mail armour my very first time playing. I thought individual points into skills affected me without activating them. I also died against my first Great Jaggi...and failed the following cap quest once and didn't try again for a week...

| Why so much hate for Guan Dao or Rathian armor? I know they are not the greatest but lot of us have used Ceadeus armor or Dark Claw Demise I feel like both Ian and Guan Dao/Yan Yue Dao are a taste so to speak of the equipment we will be using post end game at some point. | |

| - Spoiler:
Apparently it is inferior to the other two dragon-elemental weapons(which you won't be getting till HR 51), but like I said;I don't use LSes too much. Rathian, because while it is easy to get, I figure because the skills are all defense and survival-oriented. I guess some people prefer their armours to have at least one offensive ability...ignoring how stupidly easy it is to get earplugs on Rathian armour.
On topic, I am sad to say for the longest time I had no idea how to do the different levels of hammer charging or GS timing.

i did not know it doesnt do any damage at all /scar/ Well it does, but your biggest competition within par would be a Bhnahabra. So if you ever have the urge to go parcore with some bugs for a LOONG timeframe, torch is your weapon of choice.

Probably thinking Qurupeco was impossible alone. I used to think like that on Freedom 1. However, I just learned that it just took quite a bit longer than the non-multiplayer monsters and I didn't have the attention span to kill them all alone (And I still don't XD)

Got to admit that was me also. To be fair to myself though that was before I looked up anything on MH. Tri was just a random buy for me. I thought +5 in attack gave me +5 in my attack. When I finally got enough points in a skill to activate it though that is when I started to get the point

| Another thing was I thought barrel bombs were throwable (as I had played a lot of donkey kong games before-hand) and I kept placing them everywhere and I was like "Wtf?" then ended up suicide bombing my first Great Jaggi...
Remember kids... Suicide bombing is the answer to everything...
DO NOT SUICIDE BOMB! IT'S FOR BADASSES ONLY! EXCLUDING ME!

| I love lance and all but lancers are for the mozt part cry babies about getting tripped does not matter what just happens to be longsword is overly popular I honestly lanced with many LS users I really never had an issue with them but I am aware of where I position myself because I know most weapons can interupt me especially longsword with it's wide hitbox. People whp truly master lonsword are skilled players brcause it is the easiest to pick up but hardest to use on a team because of the large hitbox it has. I personally am a longsword user and sometimes am annoyed by a lancer complaining about my weapon choice I give players a prior warning and post with a longsword equipted but then fhe entire team decides to lance making it hard for me to position myself and then get attacked for it. I feel other players need to be more aware of each other instead of just the monster in front I have gone entire runs with three longsword users maybe being tripped maybe 4-5 times wich is pretty small considering how some quests can take up to 20 minutes if not going for speed. | |
