PostOver Looked Games

We've all had that one (or maybe a few) game(s) that we have enjoyed, loved and went on to play multiple times more.

But the game in question, it happens to be hugely over looked.
Which is saddening, as some of the less popular games are the ones that people who have been lucky enough to play it, will remember it due to it's charm.

For example, here's mine:

- Okami: A very unique game indeed. It had the most beautiful art-style I have ever seen in a game. But that wasn't all it had going for it! Okami also had a gripping storyline, addictive gameplay and of course, an amazing soundtrack! And despite it's popularity on both the PS2 and the Wii, Okami still went on to spawn a sequel. Okamiden on the Nintendo DS.

- Zubo: A rather unique Rhythm-Based RPG for the Nintendo DS. With some clever character designs and a rather interesting turn-based battle system. Not much can be said for the story, music, ect. But commanding a team of Zubo's in battle was fun! I mean c'mon... Pairing a Punk Rock Zubo with a Gothic Zubo, only to beat up a Gangster Zubo? EPIC!!

So that's two of my over looked games. Are there any you lovely people would like to mention? Feel free!

I don't think you can say it's too overlooked if they gave it the HD treatment and advertising.

And when you say "overlooked" are you talking about in the EU, US, Japan or everywhere? Or just personally?

I don't know about Okami's success in other regions, so when I say "Overlooked", I say it as to how it did in my local region, which is Europe. And that's what I base my views off.
In which case here in the EU, Okami could very well qualify as one of those Overlooked games.

Do you really think Okami can be called overlooked, when almost everyone here has called it that? I find that's somewhat like calling Shadow of the Colossus, or Dead Island overlooked.

Ys is highly overlooked in the western world dcj, just because it has 50 adaptations that only exist in japan doesn't mean it has done well over here...

Ys is kind of weird. The games gets great reviews, but still no one bothers to play them.

Freedom Force, Nanosaur, and Giants Citizen Kabuto, I loved those games when I was younger.

Now THOSE games are overlooked. Other than that this thread has been "Games that you like that aren't Capcom or Nintendo properties."

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training
That opening music just lit me up. Unfortunately, the only other person I knew who owned a copy was my Grandmother.

Almost all of Y's games were released in the West multiple times on multiple platforms. And sold well on all of them pretty much. So not really overlooked at all anywhere.

Overlooked, IMO, its mostly the older games or games from small companies with limited releases. Usually the ones that never even recieved "official" reviews.

A few "Torin's Passage", Rule of Rosé, Hexen, and one of the games I really liked on PSone Tail Concerto.

So how about Cursed Mountain for the Wii? One of the best survival horrors out there. And would certainly be part of the over looked video game list.

I think only the people who lived through the time of the original turbografix and sega Ys games that did really well would regard it as popular. I only heard about it in about the last two years, and don't know anyone personally who has played anything from the series.

Totally agree. I have many friend who play a lot of game system and I asked most of them if they hear about Ys. They give me a common reply, What that?

Baten Kaitos series, I never beat either of them but I sure as hell did spend a large amount of time trying to get good at them.

Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2 in USA)
Dark Chronicle is an RPG, Fishing, Photography, Inventing, Landscaping and golfing game. Spheda is the most awesome golfing minigame ever. What other golf game has you hit a time sphere into a time distortion to make it vanish and leave behind treasure chests that normally contain precious gems?
By the way, if any of you play the Professor Layton games, you'll recognise the music style on Dark Chronicle.
Did I mention you can build up a fighting robot on Dark Chronicle?
Jet Hover, Sun&Moon armour and Samurai arms ftw.

Ahh Baiten Kaitos....
I'd also agree on that one.

I thought Chibi Robo was a nice little game to play, Metal Arms was also quite a fun game. Wario World and WarioWare .Inc were quite undiscovered I thought.

Chibi Robo was such a charming game. But personally, I thought it was quite popular? I know many people that love the Cube Classic.

The DS sequel however... Let's not go into that...
